The message level reporting feature enables users to report any account by flagging a specific message.

WhatsApp has introduced two new safety features for its instant messaging app in India – Flash Calls and Message Level Reporting. The flash call feature works as an addition to the SMS verification option that is mandatory for the registration process on WhatsApp. The message level reporting feature enables users to report any account by flagging a specific message.
For a Secure User Experience
While talking about these two new features, WhatsApp said that they will help improve the user’s experience by making it more secure. In addition to the end-to-end encryption, the instant messaging platform offers a host of other safety features like blocking contacts, disappearing messages, locking the app with an ID and controlling what to share with whom. The two news features will give another level of added security to the app, according to WhatsApp.
The Flash Calls Feature
The flash calls feature will provide users with the option to verify their phone numbers through an automated call. Earlier, there was only one option – SMS message – for setting up WhatsApp on a new phone or for re-installing it on a device. Please note that the feature is currently available only for Android users. With this new feature, WhatsApp can call the phone and verify the number automatically., thereby eliminating the need for SMS verification. According to WhatsApp, this is a much safer option as it takes place within the app.

The Message Level Reporting Feature
As far as the message level reporting feature is concerned, WhatsApp users can now report accounts by flagging a specific message that might seem problematic to them. To do this, all the user has to do is long-press a particular message to either report or block the user. WhatsApp, in its latest transparency report, has said that over 2.2 million accounts have been banned in September alone.

In the past, WhatsApp has come up with many safety features for its app, like controlling who can see your profile photo, last seen and status. Users can block accounts if required as well. The most recent introduction has been that of the disappearing messages, where a user can send a photo or video that will disappear after the recipient has opened it.
